Count On Us for Sustainability

CTL Global is committed to Green Initiatives for a friendlier and healthier environment. Our focus on sustainable programs is not only environmentally friendly, but also provides operational efficiencies that enable our clients to reduce costs.

Recycling Waste

CTL Global employees recycle, on average, 35-50 tons each month from general business processes. These materials include aluminum, paper, plastic and glass, but also significant amounts of corrugated materials. As a result of greater recycling, CTL Global monthly trash amounts have decreased by 50%.

Reducing Energy Usage

CTL Global installed a Big Ass Fan® (www.bigassfans.com) in its warehouse to increase air movement and reduce energy costs. Big Ass Fans are large HVLS (High Volume/Low Speed) fans that can save up to 30% in energy costs year round.

Continental Transportation Solutions is also working to conserve energy. Continuous route optimization, using special esri® technology for intelligent routing, saves fuel and reduces client costs. A new, preventative maintenance program on all trucks insures fuel efficiency performance is maximized and airborne pollutants are minimized.

Continental Logistics Solutions implemented an "Intelligent Racking" process, modeling workflow so inventory does not have to be moved as frequently. This has reduced forklift usage, extended vehicle life and reduced energy used.

Continental Technology Solutions recently installed blade servers, which are more energy efficient versus the same number of individually-powered, stand-alone rack servers.

Reusing Material

CTL Global launched a company-wide initiative to reuse all materials whenever possible to save energy and reduce potentially-toxic landfill items. As a result of this program, one of our employees conceived an idea to utilize a "spoon shaker" from old equipment to develop an automated machine that provides clients with exact material quantities, faster and at lower cost.

CTL Global also has instituted a computer reuse program, enabling parts from old computers to be rebuilt into new, more efficient machines for employees.

CTL Global uses environmentally-friendly packaging materials when sending out all materials. The boxes utilized are Sustainable Forestry Initiative® Certified, ensuring that the forest from which the raw materials for corrugated are taken are renewed with trees. Additionally, all boxes are 100% recyclable.

When there is a void to fill in packaging, we use kraft paper for void fill that is made with up to 100% recycled fiber. The pulp material used in this paper is derived from sawmill residuals, which are leftover wood chips after the dimensional lumber has been cut. The void paper is 100% recyclable and biodegradable.

Reinventing Programs to Be Eco-Friendly

Continental Logistics Solutions implemented environmentally-friendly, cost effective initiatives to utilize biodegradable and recyclable materials for "Green Kits" in client kitting programs. These include napkins, baking cups, cutlery and hot/cold cups. Much of the materials are made from renewable and more sustainable ingredients (corn versus petroleum) and require less energy to manufacture. CTL Global also acquired Ranpak, a sustainable, recyclable filler material, instead of the less environmentally-friendly plastic bubble wrap or packing peanuts.
